The media plays a pivotal role in shaping perceptions and influencing attitudes. Over the decades of films that have been released, girls and women have been portrayed in a multitude of different ways. I am so grateful for the movies that paint women, young and old, in a strong, resilient light. I believe these kinds of influences can be a positive force for good in our lives, and in the lives of our children.
I reached out on Instagram and asked my community what the most empowering movies for girls are, and I was met with a huge list of responses! I’ve compiled some of them below for you to be inspired by.
Some of these may not be appropriate for really young girls. You can always check the content of a movie on IMDB to make sure it’s suitable for your family!
